Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the club's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager lamented known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period such as this with performances this poor.”

He finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
