Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's 10-match winless start to the Premier League season.

And both candidates - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the club ownership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town head coach - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the club board as they begin the process of appointing a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is additionally emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to pay any compensation.
