Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande on the occasion of Red Carpet Event Barred from Singapore
A man from Australia who jumped past a barrier and touched actress Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.
The individual, aged 26, was given a sentence to over a week in jail for being a public nuisance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told Singaporean press.
The man shoved through camera crews and approached aggressively the celebrity, who was present at the regional launch for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
He has a background of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop star's Australian show in June this year.
The event sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people claiming he of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The celebrity has spoken of dealing with PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her performance in the UK city in several years ago killed 22 individuals and hurt numerous attendees.
In the legal process, the authorities learned he had tried to gain access on the red carpet event multiple times, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a another effort to breach security. Security staff prevented him and restrained him.
The man subsequently shared recordings expressing gratitude to the star for letting him on the carpet and said he was "released."
Law enforcement detained him the following day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which he confessed.
The Court Judge the magistrate was quoted by Channel News Asia as remarking that he was looking for publicity, noting that he was incorrect to believe he would not suffer any consequences.
The singer has not commented on the incident.
The co-star mentioned the situation to a media outlet, remarking that she "just wanted to ensure my colleague was protected."
"I'm sure he didn't mean us danger, but you cannot be certain with those things, and I wanted to ensure that she was alright. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
