Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
