Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
